Electric Love Blueprint - A History of Electronic Music

Regular price £40.00 40.0

A meticulously detailed history of electronic music mapped out on the circuit diagram of a theremin, one of the world's first electronic musical instruments.

The 3rd edition of our first ever blueprint, which has been updated with 76 new additions. We’ve expanded some areas including Alt Pop, French Touch, German Techno, Early Dubstep, Hi-NRG and Italo Disco. We’ve also increased the presence of J Dilla on the print in recognition that his legacy and influence has grown exponentially since his death in 2006.

The print now features over 375 inventors, innovators, artists, composers and musicians who have been pivotal to the evolution of electronic music, from the invention of the earliest known sound recording device in 1857 to the present day.

The print loosely groups genres, from the obscure Musique Concrète (Pierre Schaeffer) to the better known Krautrock (Kraftwerk, Can, Tangerine Dream, Neu! and Faust), Disco Dons (Patrick Cowley, Cerrone, Alexander Robotnick), Synthpop (Gary Numan, The Human League and Depeche Mode), Electronica (New Order, Massive Attack, LCD Sound System and Daft Punk), Alt Pop (SOPHIE, Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek),

Key pioneers featured include Léon Theremin, Bob Moog, Karlheinz Stockhausen, BBC Radiophonic Workshop, John Cage, Brian Eno, BJÖRK, Aphex Twin, J Dilla and our favourite innovating record labels Mute and Warp.
