Punk Solar System - Original Open Edition

Regular price £30.00 30.0

Punk pioneers, the Ramones shine brightly at the heart of our Punk Solar System, their explosive influence radiates out to their contemporaries and fellow New York CBGB icons including Television, Patti Smith, The Heartbreakers, Blondie and Suicide and bands that followed in their wake.

The print also celebrates parallel scenes that emerged across the world at a similar time, including the British punk scene and bands like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, The Slits, Generation X & Siouxsie and the Banshees. Clustered together are the bands who were inspired by the Sex Pistols infamous gig at Manchester’s Lesser Free Trade Hall in June 1976 including Joy Division, The Fall and Buzzcocks and the bands who gravitated around Liverpool’s iconic venue Eric’s including Deaf School, Big in Japan, The Teardrop Explodes and Echo & the Bunnymen.

Also close to the centre of the punk solar system are the hugely important porto-punk bands from Ohio including Rocket from the Tombs & Pere Ubu and bands from the influential Australian scene including The Saints and Radio Birdman.

The edge of the solar system features experimental bands like The Wire, the boundary pushing Hüsker Dü and Minutemen and a cluster of hardcore bands including Black Flag, Minor Threat & Bad Brains.
