Celebrating the most influential and exciting alternative albums from 2016 – 2025.
We’ve reimagined 42 seminal alternative albums from this period as a series of oversized postage stamps, beginning in 2016 with landmark releases such as Pinegrove’s Cardinal, ANOHNI’s Hopelessness and Big Thief’s Masterpiece, and concluding in 2025 with the richly ambitious SABLE, fABLE by Bon Iver.
Other classic albums featured include Phoebe Bridgers and Stranger in the Alps, Wolf Alice and Visions of a Life, Mitski and Be the Cowboy, black midi and Schlagenheim, Michael Kiwanuka and KIWANUKA, Fiona Apple and Fetch the Bolt Cutters, Wet Leg and their eponymous debut album, Black Country, New Road and Ants from Up There, Caroline Polachek and Desire, I want to Turn Into You, Mk.gee and Two Star & the Dream Police, and Fontaines D.C. and Romance.
Each stamp features a graphic inspired by the album (or tracks on the album), the date of release, the label it was released on and its running time.
