Lost Destination: Preston Bus Station

Regular price £35.00

Preston Bus Station was designed by Keith Ingham and Charles Wilson of BDP and E.H. Stazicker. When completed in 1969 it was heralded as one of the largest bus stations in the world. Despite being voted Preston’s favourite building in 2010 and featuring on the 2012 World Monument Fund’s at risk list, plans to demolish it were announced in December 2012. In 2013 it was saved from demolition when it was finally granted Grade II listed building status.

Part of our Lost Destination series of prints which takes inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century. They celebrate the unique but often forgotten beauty of buildings that in their heyday were destinations in their own right, but have since been either immersed in the everyday or demolished.

Concept and art direction by Dorothy and illustration by Steve Millership.
